Tips to enjoy a happy, healthy Winter

For most people, it's easy to label the winter months as dark, cold and boring. It also doesn't help when we wake up in the dark and leave work in the same way.

In most people's eyes, the summer months are seen as sheer bliss; when each and every one of us is that little bit healthier, sociable and happy to enjoy our bright mornings and evenings.

Most winters I fall victim to these types of behaviours too; but I've come to realise that parks, gyms, spas and restaurants don't close any earlier and that I can drill look to enjoy some me time all year around.

So, I've decided that this year I will embrace winter - starting with making a list and booking the things I love.

1. Light up your home

There's nothing prettier on a dark night than lighting candles and turning on your fairy lights or lamps. I find that helping to create a cosy, warm ambiance in my home, whilst reading a book helps me to relax and capture my imagination.

2. Relaxing Bath

Let's face it, we all love a good bath bomb - especially the ones from Lush. On a Monday night, after what feels like a long day at work, I like to get in the bath and watch a film on my iPad (this is not in the bath, in case you were wondering, it's on our bathroom unit). I could literally stay in here for hours and come out feeling super relaxed.

3. Book a Spa Treatment

If you're feeling a little flush or simply find a great massage deal, booking a spa treatment can help you feel relax and rejuvenated in these winter months. And, in my opinion, there's nothing nicer than treating yourself to a pampering session.

4. Get exercising

It's easy to avoid the gym on what feels like even darker mornings, but just remember you can also do exercise in your own home.

In the winter months I tend to use my Swork It app at home and do 15 minutes each morning, as opposed to long hours in the gym. I love this app, as it has a mix of strength, cardio and yoga exercises that require no equipment at home.

At the end of a workout it just makes me feel so much better and ready to take on the day. Of course, if you're not in to working out, then you could always go for a walk, cycle or swim to help you achieve those exercise endorphins.

So there you have it! My tips on how I like to run my winter wellbeing.
