Pretty walks along highline | New York

Monday, July 4, 2016

If you think Central Park offers you a moment of tranquility when visiting New York, then you need to take a trip to the beautiful High Line, located on the west side of Manhattan and it's completely free.

So what is it? High Line is an old rail road through the west side of the city that has now become a stunning park filled with water features and plants. It's also over 1.4 miles long and starts around W23rd and 10th Ave (think the Chelsea district).

Whilst walking along, it really is amazing to see the contrast of iconic buildings against vibrant flowers and green plants. Better yet, this is completely free to do!

As you approach the half way mark of High Line, there is a handful of independent art galleries and food outlets to go to. Seeing as it was 32 degrees when walking along this, we decided to stop off and grab an ice-pop from this cute little stand.

All in all, a perfect way to spend an afternoon in New York.
